Yesterday marked the launch of Shogun Fest, the month-long food festival at Shogun Japanese Buffet Restaurant in One Utama Shopping Mall. Organized by the Grand Saisaki Group, the fest is set to be an annual event for all Saisaki's and Shogun's chain of restaurants across the Klang Valley beginning this year. 

I.M. was invited to the launch and was one of the first to taste their special spring inspired, mouth-watering dishes like whole roasted lamb and beef, fresh jumbo oysters from New Zealand and slipper lobster. Om nom nom nom.



To add on to the festivities, Shogun flew in a 100kg Maguro (tuna fish) all the way from the Maldives! Chef Usami Yasaro showed off his knife skills and delicately sliced the fish in front of the media and guests, serving it immediately in the form of fresh sashimi, maki and sushi.



Apart from that, Shogun took the opportunity to introduce its latest dessert, the Teppan Gelato. The Teppan Gelato is an ice cream like dessert made on a metal pan, otherwise known as Teppan. Pick from a series of flavours like green tea, red bean, chocolate or vanilla; add in your choice of mixings be it thin almond slices, Oreo crumbs or chocolate chips; watch the master show of his kungfu skills on the teppan and voila- you have your very own Teppan Gelato! If you have a sweet tooth, you'd be happy to know that the Grand Saisaki Group intends to open 10 retails outlets dedicated to serving this sweet dessert by the end of 2012.




The group is also looking at expanding into the fast food industry with Shogun Express, serving delicious Japanese delicacies from just RM6.90 onwards. Definitely something to look forward to!
