A Few Good Men

We shook our heads and said “Tsk tsk” when we heard about the tragic incident in China where a little girl was ran over by a van and nobody stopped to help. Our accusatory fingers are now making a U-turn and pointing directly back at us. An elderly woman in Penang was left unconscious on the road after being robbed by a snatch thief early Tuesday morning. CCTV records showed passers-by walking right by her and none lifted a finger to help. Finally, 7 minutes after the incident, 3 Good Samaritans lifted her to the side of the road and called for an ambulance. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries hours later. It really does make us question the world we live in, doesn’t it?

 
Federer Does It Again!

Surprise, surprise (not really). Roger Federer won his 7^th (yes, 7^th!) Wimbledon title after an intense showdown against Andy Murray last Sunday. The 30-year-old is obviously showing no signs of slowing down and even reclaims the world No.1 ranking in tennis. What’s next? The London Olympics 2012, of course and there’s no denying that Federer is going to be one tough competition to beat.

So this isn’t exactly headline news, but if you haven’t been coming across these Thor jokes on your Facebook wall or 9 gag, then I don’t know which rock you’ve been hiding under! Some of the funniest ones I’ve seen were even created by our very own fellow Malaysians. We’re obviously a very productive bunch, aren’t we?

Easy Parking Lots for…Women?!

I’m not even sure if this is sexism or the complete opposite of it. The town of Triberg in Germany now have parking lots with male and female symbols. Parking lots for women are wider (excuse me?!) and more well lit (fair enough) whilst the men’s parking lots are close to pillars and must be reversed into. According to Mayor Gallus Strobel, it was a natural decision considering men were better at parking than women. *GASP* I think I just found the answer to my first question.

The video above has been going around the internet this week and I have to admit it’s pretty entertaining. A family scored video gold when they managed to catch a hungry shark on camera, snatching away their catch from the fishing reel. Their reaction? “OH SH*T!! IT’S ALL MINE! IT’S ALL MINE! THERE’S A SHARK! A SHAAARRRRKKKK!!” Hilarious.

Steven Tyler is saying bye-bye to American Idol and won’t be joining judges Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez for the next season. The wide-mouthed rock star is leaving the judges panel to get back onto the stage with Aerosmith. I suppose that makes the news a bittersweet one then. So who’s going to take his place? Apparently, ex-Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert may be the chosen one. What do you think?
